French 1/2 (Grades 9-12)Learn the basics! Vocabulary, verbs, and simple grammar. Enjoy a song, a snail, and the beautiful sound of French along the way. This class and subsequent French classes lead to satisfying the college entrance requirement for foreign language. Nightly homework is an expectation.
French 3/4 (Grades 10-12)We’re on the way, adding depth to our first year basics with more involvement in writing, speaking, reading and listening.
French 5/6 (Grades 11-12)You must have enjoyed the first two years! This year we add advanced grammar verb tenses, and continue to build our vocabulary base.
French 5H/ 6H (Grades 11-12)A third year course in French language, which requires greater depth, quality, and linguistic mastery from the student than the college preparatory curriculum. Students should demonstrate above average command of sentence structure and basic grammar in oral and written language by the end of the course. This class is excellent preparation for fourth-year AP French language.
French 7/8 (Grades 11-12)By the end of this year you will be able to write a composition, have a conversation, listen to a song with understanding, and read a French author.
AP French Language 1/ 2 (Grades 9-12)Students do college level work as they expand their vocabulary, read at a higher level, and write with more sophistication. Students will take the Advanced Placement French test in May for which they can earn college credit.
Spanish 1/ 2 (Grades 9-12)This course lays the groundwork for learning Spanish. Students hear, speak, read, and write Spanish daily, covering food, sports, clothes, colors, numbers, school, and entertainment. This class and subsequent Spanish classes lead to satisfying the college entrance requirement for foreign language. Nightly homework is an expectation.
Spanish 3/ 4 (Grades 9-12)This course continues building areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking, with more emphasis on cultural awareness. Real world subjects covered include foods/restaurants, animals, travel, film/tv, hobbies, and shopping.
Spanish 5/ 6 (Grades 10-12)Students expand their ability to communicate in Spanish by adding more vocabulary and more advanced grammar.
Spanish 5H, 6H (Grades 10-12)This course, conducted in Spanish, is more demanding than the college preparatory level. We study advanced grammar and vocabulary, do oral and written projects, and read literature. This class is excellent preparation for fourth-year AP Spanish language.
Spanish 7/ 8 (Grades 10-12)Only Spanish is used by the students and teacher as they learn more words, write compositions, read stories, and make presentations to the class.
AP Spanish Language 1/ 2 (Grades 11-12)Students do college level work by expanding vocabulary, learning all verb tenses, and speaking only Spanish. Activities include reading authentic materials, writing compositions, and making presentations. Students will take the Advanced Placement Spanish test in May for which they can earn college credit with scores of 3, 4, or 5.
German 1/ 2 (Grades 9-12)Willkommen! Learn the basics with a strong communicative focus. German songs and stories will help you acquire conversational travel skills and the building blocks for academic success. This class and subsequent German classes lead to satisfying the college entrance requirement for foreign language. Nightly homework is an expectation.
German 3/ 4 (Grades 10-12)This year we’ll add to our strong communicative foundation with more involvement in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
German 5/ 6 (Grades 11-12)Specially written, culturally authentic stories keep our vocabulary under constant expansion. We’re ready to explore more grammar and verb tenses further.

AP German Language 1/ 2 (Grades 11-12)This is the year to polish all skills. Students will take the Advanced Placement German test in May for which they may earn college credit. Passing the German AP and three other AP exams renders students eligible for a free university education in Germany. |
