What is it?

This is an introductory college-level statistics course.

Students are introduced to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data.  The broad conceptual themes are:
  1. Exploring Data:  Describe patterns and departures from patterns
  2. Sampling & Experimentation:  Plan and conduct a study
  3. Anticipating Patterns:  Explore random events using probability and simulation
  4. Statistical Inference:  Estimate population parameters and test hypotheses
 In universities and colleges, the number of students who take a statistics course is almost as large as the number of students who take a calculus course.

What do you need before taking this course?

You must have successfully completed an Algebra II course  AND have sufficient mathematical maturity and quantitative reasoning ability.
This course is unlike any math course you have experienced.

Although data is often numerical, your analysis and conclusions must be written coherently.  Reading and writing are integral skills for this course.

Who should take it?

MOTIVATED juniors* and seniors committed to college-level coursework.
(*Juniors enroll in Statistics & Pre-Calculus*)

You must have an EXCELLENT WORK ETHIC and DESIRE to EXCEL.
