Course Description  

A college level survey course encompassing United States History from the pre-colonial times through the modern era.   

Instructional Goals 

  1. To broaden your experience base and your understanding of contemporary society through the study of American history 
  2. That you will grow personally—developing balanced perspectives, reasoning precisely, and expressing yourself clearly. 
  3. That your AP examination results will reflect this growth. 

Prerequisites 

None.  

What will a student HAVE to do to be successful in this AP level class? 

  1. Good study habits and conscientiousness in school work.
  2. Excellent reading skills.
  3. Ability to express yourself well both verbally and on paper.
  4. Regular school attendance.
  5. Desire to embrace tasks that require concentration and effort.  

Why should students take this AP course?

  1. Preferred for admission into Colleges or Universities that seek superior students.
  2. Eligibility for honors or other special courses or programs (preparation for AP).
  3. Exemption by your College or University from beginning courses and permission to take higher level courses (AP).
  4. College Academic credit awarded for Exams taken (AP).
