This results in a more holistic, systematic, and global view of history. The course offers balanced global coverage with Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe each represented.
Instructional Goals
- Review the major civilizations and regional developments from the ancient civiliations to modern times.
- Analyze global patterns and trends throughout history - paying close attention to the reasons for changes and continuities across eras.
- Improve reading and writing skills.

Level and Type of Works
The course moves at fast pace, requiring students to read a chapter of the college-level textbook a week, take notes, complete mini-projects related to that weeks topic, take weekly quizzes, and write numerous essays.
What will a student HAVE to do to be successful in this AP level class?
To be successful in AP World, students must complete each week's assignments amd regularly prepare for the various assessments.
Why should you take AP World History?
As the world continues to become smaller through increased trade and improved communications methods, it is important to understand the historical backgrounds of our emerging partners and rivals.
While the content is an important part of the class, this course has a major emphasis on skills that will be helpful in this class and future AP/college courses. These skills include reading for understanding, note taking, analysis of documents, and essay writing.
