Come To The Santee Library Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. to see teen authors Laura Preble (QUEEN GEEK SOCIAL CLUB), Cindy Pon (SILVER PHOENIX), and Barrie Summy (I SO DON¹T DO MYSTERIES). The library is in the Carlton Oaks shopping center near Hungry Howie’s. Authors will answer questions, sign books as part of the county library’s PAGE ONE FESTIVAL OF BOOKS.

National Novel Writing Month is in November! If you are a student and would like to try writing a novel in one month, take the challenge...if you finish your word count goal (12,000 plus) you can have your novel printed FREE and sent to you FREE! Go to www.nanowrimo.org and look for the YWP, Young Writer Program.

The Ambassador From Cuyamaca College's Outreach Department will be at West Hills on Monday, October 26, 2009 in the Guidance Office from 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Students interested in meeting with this representative and obtaining information can sign up in the Guidance Office. Boys’ Soccer Pre-Season Meeting: Today, October 21^st at lunch in the Wrestling room. If you plan on playing, you need to attend.

Are Your Math Skills Up To The Challenge? Show up to room M6 on Thursday at lunch and participate in the first math contest of the year brought to you by the California Mathematics League. Show up early, as there are only a limited number of spots.

INKWELL: West Hills' creative writing literary magazine is up and running! If you are interested in participating or just want to see what it's all about, come to our first meeting in E-7 Thursday, October 22 at lunch. Artists, writers, photographers, everyone is welcome.

Girls’ Soccer Meeting: Mandatory pre-season meeting for those wanting to tryout for girls’ soccer Friday, October 23^rd at lunch in room SS-14.

Juniors and Seniors: Our class ring company will be on campus to take class ring orders on Friday, October 23 and Monday, October 26, during lunch in front of the ASB/Student Store. There will also be a special parent and student order day on Saturday, October 24 from 9am to 11am in front of the Administration Building. The class ring ordering packet can be picked up from the Front Office Reception Counter or the Attendance Office. Don't miss this opportunity to order your official class ring.

Congratulations to your Marching Band who received 2nd place and your Color Guard who received 3rd place this past Saturday at the Rancho Buena Vista Tournament beating in their division Steele Canyon, Grossmont, Sweetwater, and Otay Ranch. Be sure to cheer them on this Friday during the halftime show and again Saturday as they compete at Mt Carmel HS in both field and parade competition. Come out and show your support.

Community Service Opportunity: Meet at the corner of East Park Avenue and Roanoke Road in El Cajon on Saturday, October 24^th from 9-11am. Together we will support the Make a Difference Day mission of neighbors helping neighbors by removing trash, identifying graffiti, properly recycling electronic waste, and collecting usable household donation items for the San Diego Rescue Mission. It promises to be a fun and rewarding morning! For more information and a waiver (if under 18), see Mrs. Pratt in Counseling.

Thinking About Pursuing A Career Related To Law? On November 7, Cal-SOAP, in partnership with USD, will be hosting an event called "So You Want To Be... A Lawyer." Learn from professional lawyers, law students, and law school admissions officers about how you can prepare NOW for a career in Law! ATTENTION ATHLETES: El Capitan High School is offering sports physicals for Winter Sports Wednesday, November 4^th at 1:30 pm in their Health Office. The cost is $20.00 cash. Please download an athletic clearance packet at http://wolfpack.guhsd.net (click on the Athletics link) or pick up an athletic clearance packet from the Finance Office before your physical.

PHYSICIAN SPORTS PHYSICALS will be doing physicals on October 24th at Scripps Ranch HS (girls' locker room) from 9am-10am, October 26th at Gompers Preparatory Academy (location TBD) from 2pm-3pm, and again on November 4th at Mira Mesa HS (Nurse's Office) from 2pm-3pm. ALL ARE WELCOME! Just bring school physical form and cash. Super convenient!

Loss Of Privilege (LOP) List: Students who fail to follow the expectations for appropriate behavior may be denied privileges such as attendance at Homecoming, athletic events, and any other school sponsored activity. Review the student handbook for additional information.

Make-Up Picture Days At Boyd Anderson Studio: Again this year, we will be offering picture make-up days the first

Saturday of every month at our studio in Santee and in addition to those days we are offering two additional dates to accommodate those parents and their students. The two additional dates and times at the studio are:

Attention Wolf Pack: Anyone interested in wrestling the Wolf Pack Express Wrestling Club meets Monday through Thursday from 3-6 pm in the Gymnastics room (located on the west end of the gym). Challenge yourself and become a member of the Wolf Pack wrestling team.
