COLLEGE- WEAR DAY FACT #3: Federal Student Aid, an office of the U.S. Department of Education, provides financial aid, such as grants, loans, and work-study, to students who need help paying for college. Student financial aid can be used to cover the costs of a student’s college tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. This aid can also be used to help pay for a computer and dependent child care expenses.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (or FAFSA) is the basic application that is used to apply for federal student aid. For more information about Federal student aid, visit http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/index.htm, where you can also complete a FAFSA form.

Are Your Math Skills Up To The Challenge? Show up to room M6 today at lunch and participate in the first math contest of the year brought to you by the California Mathematics League. Show up early, as there are only a limited number of spots.

INKWELL: West Hills' creative writing literary magazine is up and running! If you are interested in participating or just want to see what it's all about, come to our first meeting in E-7 today, October 22 at lunch. Artists, writers, photographers, everyone is welcome.

Girls’ Soccer Meeting: Mandatory pre-season meeting for those wanting to tryout for girls’ soccer Friday, October 23rd at lunch in room SS-14.

Juniors and Seniors: Our class ring company will be on campus to take class ring orders on Friday, October 23 and Monday, October 26, during lunch in front of the ASB/Student Store. There will also be a special parent and student order day on Saturday, October 24 from 9am to 11am in front of the Administration Building. The class ring ordering packet can be picked up from the Front Office Reception Counter or the Attendance Office. Don't miss this opportunity to order your official class ring.

Come To The Santee Library Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. to see teen authors Laura Preble (QUEEN GEEK SOCIAL CLUB), Cindy Pon (SILVER PHOENIX), and Barrie Summy (I SO DON¹T DO MYSTERIES). The library is in the Carlton Oaks shopping center near Hungry Howie’s. Authors will answer questions, sign books as part of the county library’s PAGE ONE FESTIVAL OF BOOKS.

Community Service Opportunity: Meet at the corner of East Park Avenue and Roanoke Road in El Cajon on Saturday, October 24th from 9-11am. Together we will support the Make a Difference Day mission of neighbors helping neighbors by removing trash, identifying graffiti, properly recycling electronic waste, and collecting usable household donation items for the San Diego Rescue Mission. It promises to be a fun and rewarding morning! For more information and a waiver (if under 18), see Mrs. Pratt in Counseling.

Make-Up Picture Days At Boyd Anderson Studio: Again this year, we will be offering picture make-up days the first

Saturday of every month at our studio in Santee and in addition to those days we are offering two additional dates to accommodate those parents and their students. The two additional dates and times at the studio are:

If you are a student and would like to try writing a novel in one month, take the challenge...if you finish your word count goal (12,000 plus) you can have your novel printed FREE and sent to you FREE!
