Why the skilled trades?
Do you enjoy working with your hands, creating things, problem solving, and working in settings that are not in an office? Skilled trades jobs offer high wage and in-demand careers where there are currently more jobs than skilled workers.
There are many community college programs available for students looking to learn a skilled trade. There are also apprenticeships where organizations will pay students for on the job training which includes a salary and benefts. See below for these opportunities.

- Talk to your high school counselor if you want help finding a trade program for you at a local community college
Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships
Earn money working while learning from an experienced trade professional. Apprenticeship programs also include some classroom learning, in addition to on the job training. This is an opportunity to get an education and training while being paid, receiving benefits, and without any cost to you! Look here for local apprenticeships and talk to your counselor for more information!
